India thrashed Pakistan by seven wickets in their Asia Cup 2025 encounter at Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.
This was the first time the two arch-rivals were meeting since the dastardly April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

Since 2008, India and Pakistan have not played any bilateral series, but whenever they clash in multilateral events, cricket fans across both sides of the border remain on edge.
Emotions run high and they are expected to run even higher this time as the two countries recently indulged in a brief but scary war.
In India, a large section was calling for a boycott of the match and that sentiment was also be visible in the empty stands as the two teams locked horns at the Dubai International Stadium.
After winning the toss, Pakistani skipper Salman Agha chose to bat first but the decision backfired with Hardik Pandya removing opener Saim Ayub on the second ball of the innings.
Bumrah too struck in the his first over removing the Mohammad Haris, the new man in, to reduce the men-in-green to 6/2 in 1.2 overs.
Things turned gloomy for Pakistani side as India introduced spin. The trio of Kuldeep Yadav (3/18), Axar Patel (2/18) and Varun Chakaravarthy (1/24) ran riots, leaving Pakistan in tatters at 64/6.
However, late blitz from Shaheen Shah Afridi (33 off just 16) ensured Pakistan reach a respectable total of 127/9 in 20 overs.
In India’s chase, Abhishek Sharma started with a boundary off the first bowl from Shaheen Afridi and followed it with a maximum on the second ball.
Gill, after hitting back to back boundaries, fall cheaply off Saim Ayub but Abhishek’s carnage continued.
However, Ayub removed Abhishek (31 off 13) in the 4th over to take his second wicket of the innings.
Surya and Tilak joined the party and stitched a crucial 56-run partnership in 52 balls. Tilak become Ayub’s third victim but Surya kept shining on the other end and finished things off in style, hitting a maximum off Sufiyan Muqeem in second last ball of the 16th other.
With this victory, India’s Super 4 berth is all but confirmed.
